BIRMINGHAM A’s PREPARE TO SHOOT THE WINNING THREE-       POINTER AT THE FINAL FOURS!


THE UK’S largest community basketball team the Birmingham A’s have made the England Basketball League’s ‘Final Fours’ tournament after shattering the competition and beating off the top basketball clubs in the country.


The 2013 junior finals get underway this weekend as semi-finalists from the under-14, under 16 and under 18 age groups go head-to-head at the English Institute of Sport in Sheffield.


The ‘Final Fours’ is the pinnacle of English basketball and Birmingham’s finest, the Birmingham A’s will be among 24 teams playing 24 games in two days in the largest league event of the season.


The Birmingham squad, dubbed the ‘miracle team’ have been training harder than ever for their biggest game to date. Their star player Sedale Hanson-Young has been averaging an unheard of 40 points per game and has just returned from the European Championships in Lithuania.


The Birmingham A’s under-16 team have taken the country by storm after only coming together last season. Based at the Doug Ellis Sports Centre in Birmingham, the A’s originally started ten years ago and continue to produce some of the top players in the region.


The organisation is the largest basketball club in the country, committed to working with young people within the community to produce outstanding athletes and students by using the sport as a tool for social change.


Nigel Hanson, CEO and coach, said ahead of the weekend’s competition: “The way these players have come together over the last 12 months is nothing short of incredible and a testament to their commitment and hard work.”




The event happening this Saturday 4th & Sunday the 5th May is totally FREE and available for all to enjoy. The A's form part of the saturday line up and the action kicks off at 10am.
